While doing mission work in Africa, I learned of the tremendous power of the printed page to spread the Gospel and to ground Christians in the faith. It was my privilege to work with Truth for the World as Director of Publications for 14 years. During this time I edited thousands of pages of printed materials, wrote Bible correspondence courses and tracts, and edited a quarterly magazine that was mailed into more than 100 nations. I was constantly amazed at how effective the printed word is in reaching the lost with the Gospel of Christ. The workbooks I have written have grown out of specific teaching situations in which I have been engaged. They are written with the aim of expressing the truth of God's Word in as simple language as is possible.They have been used in many nations. They are currently being used as textbooks in classes in schools of preaching and Bible colleges in this country and abroad. They have been widely used by congregations in high school, college, and adult Bible classes. Preachers have used them as a source of sermon material. Personal evangelists make use of them in teaching the Gospel one on one. The books by Paul Vaughn, Kevin Rutherford, and others meet the same standards of simplicity and Scriptural soundness.
